Unplanned Perfection

Sometimes a photo can be overdone, over thought, over planned. We want the perfect headband with the perfect boots to match the perfect backdrop with the perfect props. (Ugh. Props.) Have we ever sat back to look at the “props” that are quite frankly right in front of our face? Or the nonfictional moments that happen on an everyday basis that are in desperate need to be captured. Hmmm, still not following? Maybe it’s the look on your child’s face when she sneaks off with your other daughter’s toothbrush. Or her inconvenienced sentiment when you try to take it away? Perhaps it’s breakfast time, when she craved pancakes over hot mush? And the unforgettable morning dramatics while you force her to eat it. Or is it possible to catch her crunched up, snickering nose when she giggles while hiding in her most favorite secret hiding spots?

These photos are no where close to perfect in composition, quality, and sharpness. In fact, how can they when they are being snapped while hiding the camera under an arm or by my midsection. They are real, raw, historical and tangible. Moments that I habitually want to remember.

Award winning photos..they are not. But unplanned perfection…yes, yes they are. For these subjects are absolutely perfect to me.

Sugarbeets - Oh my freaking heck….I’m in love with these!!!!

Sherie - I believe that props can be a little out of control, and I’m so grateful you posted this. There’s nothing more beautiful than the real emotion of a child.

James T. - I dig the blue hue, those are legit.

Mashaide - Oh I couldn’t agree with you more. Except my unplanned perfection shots just don’t turn out as beautiful as yours. I LOVE yours! And I’m all about the candid moments, so real.

Ashley Madsen - You have the most gorgeous family. Love your baby’s little toothy grin. Those lips on Liv are beautiful!

Can’t wait to see what #3 looks like.

And of course as always, great images Melissa!

Kendyl - I love this post!

I always keep my camera on my kitchen counter for moments like these.

Amazing shots Melissa!

Amber Oyler Davis - Beautiful…

Renae Bowen - Melissa,
Not only do your photos capture the moment but your writing does as also, well said, and beautiful pure photos!

Beverly - I surely do love these two little faces, so different in personality but both are uniquely charming. Great keepsake photos, Melissa!!
